Why did I volunteer for ARCC?

As a returning intern, I have the same goals and mission to achieve. I want to build an inclusive world where everyone can feel welcomed and not judged. I decided to volunteer for ARCC because I wanted to be a part of an organization that wants to make a difference in this world. I believe that everyone should be treated with respect and welcomed no matter where they are from. As an intern, I have a platform to help me feel heard and help educate more people in the world, and it can allow me to slowly build an environment where everyone can feel heard and included. I chose to return as an intern because I learned that creating change doesn’t happen overnight. In order to create change, you need commitment and the willingness to help and be present. It shows me that having a strong support system can help and mentor you to be a better person. I struggle a lot with procrastination, but with the help of my mentor, Ms. Lynn, and
Donzel, they help me become the best version of myself, and I am willing to take the bet on myself and come back and be a better person. I wanted to challenge myself to become a better leader, and interning with ARCC will allow me to do so. The valuable lessons I learned from ARCC will continue to be with me even after the internship is over and help me become a better person in life. To leave this note, I also want to say that I want to help others feel like they belong no matter what they are going through. Most people, including myself, always thought that I was going through these challenges alone, but that is far from the truth. The truth is, behind closed doors, many people are going through the same struggles but are hiding them better than you. I want to let people know that they are not alone in their struggles, and interning with ARCC can be the first step to creating positive change.
