Dr. Tamika Lasege – Another Example of H.O.P.E.
Last month, I published Episode 7 of Season 3 of the ARCC of Change with Donzel Leggett. In this episode, I interviewed physician and healthcare executive, Dr. Tamika Lasege who told her incredibly inspiring story and shared her perspective on racism in healthcare and the resulting long-standing disparities in care and outcomes for people of color, most acutely black people, that even she, a doctor, has personally experienced.
It is a truly eye opening episode that forces anyone who listens to become painfully aware of the fact that Racism in Healthcare is REAL, and People Are Dying Because of It! You can access the episode directly with this link https://player.captivate.fm/episode/85b36b1a-b39b-410d-995f-e3f5a1475671.
Dr. Tamika Lasege attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in her home state of New Jersey after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Yale University. She completed her pediatric residency and neonatal fellowship at the University of Louisville, then practiced at Level III-IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Texas for five years. Dr. Lasege then began her clinical administrative career as a Medical Director for managed care organizations focusing on utilization management and quality of care for Medicaid members. Dr. Lasege then earned a Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) to further support her endeavors to help medical providers improve value by lowering sky rocketing medical costs while increasing quality of care.
Dr. Tamika Lasege is not only a brilliant doctor, but an astute administrator who through personal experience understands the injustices and disparities in the US healthcare system, and is standing up, speaking out and taking action to help address them.
Dr Tamika Lasege is an inspiration to all and another example of HOPE, and that’s H.O.P.E. – How Optimistic People Endure (for more on H.O.P.E. listen to E1S3 The ARCC of Change Podcast https://player.captivate.fm/episode/b1610114-3186-4664-ad51-73d19bd686d1.
