Assumptions
I never understand the stigma against tattoos. The moment someone with visible ink walks in, people stare and whisper. These individuals are seen as unprofessional, they are judged before they are known. But tattoos are beautiful, tattoos are lessons, they are memories on a breathing canvas. They are an art form. Just like music and dance. They are the same paintings you see on the walls in museums, but the ink is just darker. Tattoos are loud and unmistakable. They refuse to hide.Yet somehow, fine-line tattoos seem more acceptable. They’re quieter, softer, easier on the eyes. They draw less attention, making fewer people uncomfortable. But they’re still tattoos. Perhaps the problem was never the ink. Perhaps it has always been the assumptions people attach to what they see before they take the time to understand what’s underneath.
