A System of Racial Targeting

Many people believe that the justice system has failed Hispanics, Blacks, and other minorities, but in reality, it’s actually doing what it was intended to do. The United States has a history of oppressing minorities and limiting their opportunities. Many Americans would deny this by saying they hadn’t done that and that white people were simply better. We can actually still see this in today’s criminal justice system. African Americans are given harsher punishments than their white counterparts for the same crimes. They are more likely to be stopped by police officers and to experience police brutality. But still, nothing changes. We have the evidence and statistics to back these claims, but individuals continue to ignore and refute them. If the criminal justice system refuses to acknowledge these issues, then perhaps it should change its name to a system of racial targeting.
