Due to being born in Cuba and being surronded by hispanic culture, I never really felt part of the black community; since there was no seperation. Although there was definitely racism based on skin color. After moving to the US my mindset was the same, but soon after I realized that it needed to change. As time went by and my knowledge of Racism and Inequality grew my mindset did as well. But still, my understanding of black culture didn’t. That was until, I met other black students and teachers that helped me understand my history and culture. By joining this organization I hope to learn more about my history and help other black immigrant students learn about theirs.
