Included in the ARCC

By: Elliot Grenier

I’m proud to be involved with the ARCC, especially after the first week on the job was up. I started this summer with a talk with Donzel Leggett, and I immediately felt a respect for the man and his drive for the values of the ARCC. As a leader, I feel he has made his expectations for us plain and his vision for the organization clear, from principles to brass tacks.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work as a Program Management Support Intern, where I get to apply my skills in a dynamic, open environment with a shared goal. I’ve felt my ideas have been heard and my initiative respected as we prepare the Anti-Racism Transformation sessions for other groups across the country. Here, I feel I am getting the relevant experience where I can meaningfully contribute back to the program and its goals.

So far this summer, I feel I have learned much from the content put out by the ARCC, especially its podcasts with a variety of interesting guests. What I found particularly interesting was the recent release of an interview with anti-racist fighter Jon Melrod, as well as a talk of immigration towards the EU and a retrospect of Angela Merkel’s significant political career. I look forward to the coming weeks when I hope that we will be able to make good progress toward building a racism-free world.
