CONGRATULATIONS to the“Super” Sarah Feng!

In 2023, two of ARCC’s most active and committed volunteers reached one of life’s key milestones – High School Graduation.  ARCC would like to recognize these two AMAZING young women in two separate blog posts dedicated to each one.

In this blog post, we are recognizing the Spectacular, Super Sarah Feng.  Sarah Feng personifies what ARCC is all about.  Sarah has been an ARCC member almost since our beginning and is one of our longest-tenured volunteers. I have known Sarah for almost ten years and feel like I have seen her grow up, and I can honestly say that she is truly a remarkable young lady who exemplifies the commitment to the ARCC vision and mission. Since joining ARCC, she has been a valued member of the Marketing Team, co-led the development and execution of ARCC’s TikTok strategy and co-managed our TikTok posts for the last 2 years, led our Twitter strategy and execution since 2022, and was one of ARCC’s first two full-time summer interns.

Sarah appeared in episodes of  The ARCC of Change Podcast. She first appeared in Episode 1 of Season 2 entitled “A New Hope” in January 2022, featuring three of ARCC’s youngest members sharing what drives them to stand up, speak out, and take action for positive change. (You can access this episode here: https://player.captivate.fm/episode/e84ce891-632b-481e-9a7d-f3eef3cb3cdb.) She then appeared in Episode 5 of Season 2 entitled “Anti-Racism Requires UNITY!” An interview with Sarah Feng honoring AAPI Heritage Month” in May 2022 where she discussed her research in the complicated history of the relationship between Asian Americans and African Americans and how understanding, acknowledging and taking action to change this history to one of positive collaboration going forward will create the UNITY required to spread Anti-Racism.  (You can access this episode here: https://player.captivate.fm/episode/c5960714-2420-4c01-90ae-808985fac634).

Sarah also had the courage, confidence, and character to speak out at her high school as evidenced by her senior speech regarding the unfortunate and damaging label of “model minority” assigned to the Asian American community and the negative impact this label had on her and continues to have on the community.  (You can access Sarah’s speech here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dSFTa_Wk6QKy5pkIMy_p43eplqzcR9aU/view?usp=sharing)

Sarah made the time to do all of this at ARCC and in her community while also completing one of the most engaged and accomplished high school careers you will ever see.  Below is an incomplete list of the activities that she participated in and the honors she earned during her time in high school.

Breck High School Awards/Positions:

  • Senior Class President
  • Leader of the Asian Affinity
  • Homecoming court nominee
  • 7× Scholastics gold key winner
  • Member of the Cum laude society

  • Departmental Distinction Award (History, Math, Visual Arts)
  • Dance Captain
  • 2022 MSSEF STEM Stigma Award
  • MMIA Level 11 pianist
  • Headmaster’s list

OMG!  That is SUPER SARAH!

Sarah will attend Yale University in the fall of 2023, where she intends to major in Architecture, merging her academic and artistic talent. Knowing Sarah as I have for almost 10 years, I am confident that she will also continue to making a positive difference in the world, creating H.O.P.E (How Optimistic People Endure) for as many people as she possibly can.

We will miss Sarah as we know that as she begins university life as a freshman she will be focused on getting off to a great start and will not be able to allocate as much time to ARCC.  But we also know that Sarah will continue to be a tremendous example and wonderful role model of ARCC’s values of standing up, speaking out, and taking action to make positive change happen.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Super Star Sarah Feng! 🎓🎉🎊⭐️🙌🏾

We at ARCC are so very PROUD of you!!! ❤️❤️😊🤩
