Community in Action: Workplace Discrimination; Affirmative Action, Moving the Goalposts

For this month’s event, our topic is centered around affirmative action. We will start the conversation by listening to one person’s experience which showcases why they believe we need affirmative action. Then the group will watch a video explaining what affirmative action is and how it’s tied to schools, especially when it comes to applying for college. This video will inform the group discussion on whether race should be a factor in schools or job hiring. We invite others to share their negative or positive personal experiences with affirmative action or simply listen to others’ experiences and reflect on them. We will conclude the conversation by providing information on what action you can take to support affirmative action and to continue these conversations with family and friends.
