I have always felt what I can only call white guilt. I felt it in high school and I feel it now in my 60s. While I don’t believe my family ever owned slaves or actively oppressed any People, and while I know my family fought for the North in the Civil War, I don’t believe that absolves me from what my country has done and still does to people of color here and in other countries.
